Dorothy
Barton has produced "On Target" public access television programs over the past
ten years with little or no funding, using the public access studios in Santa Monica, Los
Angeles, Westchester and L.A. Channel 36.
Her interest in independent television
production was a result of volunteering in a special grant writing project at the Southern
Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) which helped the City of Los Angeles determine
which cable company would service the south central communities of Los Angeles. The
grant writing team's project was selected and funded by the Los Angeles City Department of
Telecommunications. Subsequently, Ms. Barton completed public access producer's
classes at Eagle Rock, Hollywood, Santa Monica, Westchester, and Baldwin Hills cable
stations. She completed producer's workshops at the American Film Institute and Los
Angeles City College.
Additionally, Ms. Barton has more than
thirty years experience in management, technical consulting and adult training and
education with the L.A. County Department of Community and Senior Citizens Services, the
Los Angeles County Probation Department, the Los Angeles Unified School District, Glendale
Career College, and National University. |
